CSSD Technician I
Demonstrates effective knowledge and skills in undertaking the following practices; decontamination, preparation, sterilisation, distribution, materials management, and follow-up of instruments and equipment
Demonstrates effective and efficient use of the following sterilisation systems, Steam, ETO, Steris System I, Sterrad, & Decomat. Demonstrates effective and efficient use of the following equipment; washer-disinfector, ultrasonic, heat sealers, cart washers Ensures that appropriately processed CSSD products are promptly and accurately delivered to end-user. Ensures AAMI, APIC and AORN international standards ofCSSD practice are achieved consistently Ensures that standard precautions related to CSSD are implemented, including PPE and handling of contaminated instruments. Requisitions consurnables in appropriate quantities and upon receipt stores and rotates items appropriately. Ensures maintenance and safe operation of equipment. Demonstrates effective communications skills. Refers identified problems to CSSD Operations Manager/Supervisor in a timely manner. Assumes responsibility and accountability for own actions, decisions, and behaviors. Anticipates and acts to maintain a safe environment for self and others. Takes direct and appropriate action in urgent and emergency situations. Promotes cooperation and teamwork in assigned area. Complies with hospital infection control and safety protocols. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Coordinates and supervises staff in different locations on each shift as delegated. Utilizes the chain of command appropriately to communicate and resolve problems.
Education and Research:
Assumes responsibility for own professional growth, identifying areas of knowledge and skills that need further development. Demonstrates ability to teach staff members and feedback performance in an appropriate manner. Attends staff meetings for in-service and discussion of CSSD related issues and practices. Participates in teaching and monitoring of Nursing, Medical and Paramedical students, interns and residents.
Undertakes quality process monitoring; including chemical & biological indicator monitors, record keeping & troubleshooting. Provides customer focused service and responsive follow-up of customer needs Com lies and artici ates in Quali Mana ement ro ams, im rovement rocesses and activities.
