Senior Project Engineer

  • Executes functional engineering processes and procedures are implemented to ensure completion of the engineering aspects of the project. Responsible for full management of complex or specially assigned projects.
  • Assists the Project Manager in monitoring the overall projects progress and maintain accurate and effective records.
  • Assists the Project Manager in planning and organizing schedules of project staff according to project requirements.
  • Recommends to the Project Manager appropriate personnel to specific phases or aspects of project, such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans and product testing, in accordance with engineering disciplines of staff.
  • Provides professional input where applicable in terms of reviews of product design for compliance with engineering principles, organizational standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Recommends processes to control expenditures within the limitations of a project. Ensures the accuracy of financial forecasts which ties in with project schedules.
  • Prepares interim and completion project reports.
  • Ensures the Project Manager and Director, Technical Affairs are fully apprised of the current and on-going status of all projects within the region.
  • Liaises between the Project Manager and the technical disciplines involved in a project.
  • Assists the Project Manager in coordinating all interdisciplinary activities and ensures the overall quality control of the work.
  • Oversees all technical activities on assigned projects as well as reviewing engineering deliverables. Ensures effective communication and coordination on assigned projects between all disciplines and all other project participants.
  • Manages project closeout and obtains all warranties required for final acceptance.
  • Monitors that work is completed in accordance with standards, codes, and policies and procedures (IPP and APP).
  • Oversees operation of quality control system for effective application of Division methodology and enforces project standards.
  • Investigates referred issues and coordinates appropriate action and reports. Coordinates with Building Engineer to ensure all structural related planned maintenance elements have been included in the preventive maintenance system.
  • Monitors safety of the work environment of overall assignments to ensure continuous operation of the site.
  • Active participation and facilitating technical/safety on the job training needs for the personnel. Ensures that level of awareness is met
  • Supervises new projects for testing and commissioning systems as assigned.
  • In coordination with the Technical Library, ensures completeness of all records, updates drawings, specifications, and other documents for the campus buildings equipment, and systems in coordination with Technical Library.
  • Performs other job related duties as required.


Education requirement

Bachelor degree in Structural or Civil engineering from an accredited Engineering college or university. Working towards professional membership, ideally Project Management Institute PMP or CPM.
Experience requirement

Eight (8) years of experience in constuction and maintenance to includeexperience in a university setting with broad knowledge of international regulations, standards and codes of practices related to construction and maintenance
English language
