Supervising the activities for the Anesthesia Department. Provide clinical services as required. Serves as member of the Anesthesia Department.

Plan direct, and supervise the activities for the Anesthesia Department. Participates in the development of policies related to the following: Functioning of Anesthetist, the administration of Anesthesia in various departments of services of the hospital, and the hospital program of Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation. Implement Hospital Medical Department Policies and Procedures, rules and regulations. Assume responsibility for implementation within the department of actions taken by the Advisory Committee and approved by the Medical Manager. Assumes responsibility for implementation of Mouwasat Hospital Policies within the Department. Chair all the department meetings. Provide clinical services as required. Serve as member of the Anesthesia Department in the O.R., ICU and everywhere in the hospital. Responding to consultations from other departments regarding evaluation of high risked patient. Organize consultation in the management of problems of acute and chronic respiratory insufficiency as well as in a variety of other diagnostic and therapeutic measures related to the unit. Recommend the type and amount of equipment necessary for the administering anesthesia and for related resuscitative efforts and determine through at least annual review that such equipments are available. Develop regulations for Anesthetist safety. Recommend to the credentials committee the appointment, re-appointment, and the privileges to be granted for all the members of the department. Continually monitor and assure the quality and appropriateness of anesthesia care rendered by members of the department anywhere in them hospital. Periodical review of the job description and recommend revision as needed to reflect current job requirements. The performance of the Anesthesia Department shall be evaluated in writing by the Head of the department at the end of probationary period and annually thereafter. The performance evaluation shall relate to the standards of performance specified in individual job description and these standards. Establish continuing education program for the department. Organize education within the department and the participation in the hospital program and continuing education, safety, infection control and performance improvement programs to keep updated with the current practices.


Be a fellow of a Royal College, certified by the American Board of Anesthesiologist or hold an equivalent qualification. Must hold a current license to practice medicine in the country of origin.

Minimum five years experience as a Consultant Anesthesiologist in a reputed hospital. Comprehensive knowledge of safe use of all general anesthetic agents, techniques and methods currently accepted in the practice of anesthesia. Must have a very good command in English language, both written and oral
