  1. Set-up and operate relevant medical imaging equipment in order to carryout ultrasound procedures.
  2. Perform ultrasound procedures on patients as requested. Assist physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques. Perform ultrasound procedures, doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound, OB-GYN procedures as required. Utilize accessory equipment such as selective transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) workstations.
  3. Perform a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones.
  4. Ensure images and all required information are available in the PACS as soon as procedures are completed.
  5. Involve in developing and reviewing the Medical Imaging department’s policies and procedures.
  6. Adhere to establish departmental policies, protocols and procedures pertaining to equipment use, patient confidentiality and professional conduct.
  7. Provide supervision to junior staff and coordinate daily activities in the ultrasound area.
  8. Ensure patients and / or relatives are clearly and fully informed about the nature and extent of the ultrasound procedure to be performed.
  9. Provide training and orientation to new employees in the ultrasound area regarding equipment, protocols, policies and procedures.
  10. Participate in the Implementation of the Department strategic plan.
  11. Participate in the Department’s in-services and lectures for staff and radiology students.
  12. Ensure ultimate patient safety and care is provided during Ultrasound procedures. Also, seek to maintain patient confidentiality, rights and privacy at all times.
  13. Ensure the appropriate equipment and accessories are used for to perform the requested ultrasound procedure. Report equipment faults and errors to the Supervisor and ensure they are withdrawn until rectified.
  14. Represent the medical imaging department by attending relevant committees and meetings as delegated by the supervisor.
  15. Diligently perform all scheduled tasks, ensure correct patient identification and site verification checks are undertaken for each examination and record preliminary notes and organ measurements for the radiologists.
  16. Adhere and ensure all staff follows established international patient safety goals.
  17. Keep abreast with current trends in ultrasound technology, ensure all applicable licenses and or trainings are current, including Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  18. Provide first level of problem solving and support for work related issues. Effectively interacts with students and junior staff consistently providing supervision and instructions.
  19. Perform other job related duties as required.


Bachelors Degree in Radiological Sciences or related field or equivalent
Work experience
Current certification / registration / license to practice in Ultrasound. Minimum of five (5) years experience in Ultrasound
