Treats appropriate disabilities that involves the therapeutic use of work, self-care and play activities to increase independent function in accordance with a written plan treatment established, and periodically reviewed by the patient’s physician.
Assess, evaluate and provides appropriate treatment for the patients effectively using therapeutic procedures and standardized test. Promotes independent training on basic activities for daily living necessary for the patients. Handled adult and pediatric cases. Prescribed splints and other adaptive devices necessary for the better function. Provides home instruction program for the family of the patient all throughout the session and upon discharge. Promotes proper body mechanics and energy conservation techniques. Provides purposeful and therapeutic play activity for special children. Promotes restoration of maximum physical function through the use of purposeful activity. Performs work hardening program, work- evaluation and job analysis for patient’s working in industrial setting (pre-employment assessment). Administers counseling techniques and stress management training especially in psychiatric patients.
Attends continuing education, performance improvement, safety and infection control programs to keep updated with the current practices.
Licensed and registered Occupational Therapist
Minimum of 2 years experience in hospital-based institution.
